Our Indoor Collection
Step into the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum to explore the fascinating indoor collection, dedicated to preserving the history and roles of 14 Wing Greenwood and its Squadrons. The interior houses multiple, ever-changing displays that chronicle the base's history from its beginnings as RAF Station Greenwood in 1942.
Highlights include five aircraft displayed indoors, plus two completely restored World War II aircraft housed in a special annex, such as a Bristol (Fairchild) Bolingbroke Mk IV.T and an Avro Anson Mk.II. Exhibits feature historical artifacts and interesting displays, including war-time dioramas like one depicting the "Black Friday" attack in 1945 and another showcasing a 405 Pathfinder formation on a night bombing run, which use sound and light to create an immersive, educational experience.
A Dedicated Team
The museum is largely sustained by a dedicated team of volunteers—including retirees, aviation enthusiasts, and military members—who are the backbone of the organization. These passionate individuals contribute a vast range of skills, from conducting tours and running the popular Flight Education program for students to their hands-on work in the aircraft restoration team, which diligently restores and maintains the vintage planes and artifacts in the collection, bringing history to life for all visitors. You'll often find them hard at work, happy to share their knowledge and projects.
