Lancaster Living Legends

The Lancaster Living Legends project is a moving initiative at the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum (GMAM) designed to permanently honor the service and sacrifice of individuals connected to the iconic Avro Lancaster bomber.

This ongoing program recognizes not only the bravery of aircrew veterans, but also the vital contribution of essential home-front workers, including riveter Viola "Lola" Videto.

As part of the GMAM’s meticulous Lancaster restoration, commemorative metal plaques, often signed by the honorees themselves, are permanently riveted inside the historic aircraft. This unique process ensures that the legacy and personal stories of these 'Living Legends' are forever linked to the machine they flew or helped build, bridging the history of the Second World War with the present-day operations of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Honour Roll of our Living Legends

Freedom isn’t free – it’s preserved by the brave men and women who answer the call to serve.
