Facelift for Museum Airman

The centerpiece of the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum's Memorial Garden is a lone, bronze statue of a WWII airman.  This treasure was donated to the Museum by the Aircrew Association of Canada and unveiled by our previous Governor General, Adrienne Clarkson, on 21 October 2002.  Six years of guarding the air display area has taken it's toll on the statue's base and for safety reasons the base required repairs.  Thanks to the ready support of the WLEO, LCol Ubbens and CEO Maj Tromp the repair process initiated quickly.  With the weather deteriorating this was no simple task and required the delicate touch of experienced people to remove the heavy statue from the base, repair the area and replace the monument in its original position.

Pictured above is the CE team of (l-r) Cpl Buck Rector, MCpl Pete Gofton, & Pte  Tim  MacDonald who did a great job on this project and are seen (happily) completing the work on a cold day 5 December 08.

The staff a volunteers at the Museum wish to acknowledge the great support provided by the CE Section in putting our statue back "On Guard in the Gardens".
