NEW LOOK AIR PARK!

at the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum
By Malcolm Uhlman, Greenwood Military Aviation Museum

Wow! The Greenwood Military Aviation Museum has a spectacular new look to its outdoor Air Park! Argus 717 has been completely refurbished with a fresh, bright coat of paint and crisp new markings and placed back on its original mounting. In addition, Lab 308 has been placed on its pad in the Air Park between the Argus and the T-Bird! The volunteer group from 14 AMS has completed the impossible job of cleaning old paint and corrosion from the entire surface the Argus - this monster of an aircraft - and applied a fantastic new coat of paint, all done under very taxing conditions in an outdoor setting. On Sunday July 10, 2011, another volunteer team from 14 AMS and 404 Squadrons made slick work of towing the behemoth from the worksite across the CANEX parking lot and grass infield to its place of prominence at the entrance.

Now, announcing a new addition! The Museum is proud to showcase a new exhibit at the Air Park, the CH-113 Labrador Helicopter. Lab 308 was decommissioned form 8 Wing Trenton and has been reassembled in 10 Hangar at 14 Wing Greenwood by another group of Museum volunteers guided by Lab veterans from IMP. Monday morning July 11, 2011, the IMP team towed Lab 308 across the air field, through the main gate to its display pad next to the "new-look" Argus 717. Many displays inside the Museum have been updated and the staff is hoping to show off all the new updates to aviation and historical enthusiasts during the summer months. The Museum is open five days a week through the winter months from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is FREE. Donations welcome!.
